Overview
UK Standard Visitor Visa for Indians
Visit London, plan a British holiday, meet family or attend permitted business events through the Standard Visitor route. Tourism and business-visit purposes use the visitor rules; neither is a route to ordinary employment in the UK.
Choose the right route
Apply online and follow the identity and biometric instructions at the visa application centre. Applications can be made no earlier than three months before travel. Show a credible visit purpose, funds and plans to leave the UK.
Budget and application timing
Current official fees are GBP 135 for a Standard Visitor visa up to six months and GBP 506 for the two-year long-term option. Each person applies and pays separately. Optional priority or visa-centre services cost extra.
UKVI usually gives a decision within three weeks after the online application, identity verification and documents are complete. Appointment availability, extra checks and exceptional cases can extend the overall journey.
Read the decision carefully
Follow the validity and conditions in your decision or immigration status. A two-year visitor visa still normally permits a maximum of six months on each visit; it does not allow residence through repeated visits. Successful new applicants receive a digital eVisa; access the UKVI account and check the linked passport before travelling. This is distinct from an ETA.
